The Gibson County EMA K-9 Team is an Organizational Member of The National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR). Our members are trained in Ground Search, Tracking/Trailing, and Cadaver (HRD).

The Gibson County EMA K-9 Team is a volunteer service organization specializing in urban and wilderness land search operations for lost or missing persons. Our team is activated immediately upon notification of a missing person when requested by law enforcement or other agency.

The GCEMA K-9 trains constantly to improve ourselves to better serve the people in need. Members of the GCEMA K-9 are trained in numerous courses/classes including those from NASAR (National Association of Search and Rescue ) and NIMS ( National Incident Management System - FEMA ).  Our members have CPR/First Aid certifications so if our team is first on scene to the victim, we are able to treat and stabilize them until advanced medical care can take over. We are very professional and dedicate ourselves to being extremely knowledgeable about 'crime scene' preservation and are able to secure the scene until proper authorities arrive.

Our members are skilled in map and compass reading (day or night operations) as well as trained in the use of GPS units. Our members are trained in the use of the UTM mapping grid system and the use of 1:24,000 scale mapping.

The GCEMA K-9 is equipped and prepared to conduct search operations day or night in any weather condition, and is a voting member of the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR). The GCEMA K-9 is funded entirely by donations and contributions, and we never charge for our services.

The GCEMA K-9 Team is dedicated to the prevention aspect of missing persons and the educational programs that we present to schools, youth groups and community organizations.
